What you need to know and consider to make the decision and best support you, whether you stay or go.
Before You Leave Teaching
An online course for teachers contemplating a career shift.

It is possible to go from anxious analysis paralysis to confident career design (in or out of the classroom).

Imagine feeling confident in your decision whether to leave teaching or not.

Imagine rekindling your passion for teaching, and discovering opportunities for you within education.

Or understanding your skills and needs, and exploring options for you beyond the classroom.

Imagine navigating this crossroads with more self-compassion and a renewed sense of

agency and self-efficacy.

(Without feeling like you have been forced into a knee-jerk decision between impossible choices: stay and be financially stable but totally burnt out or leave and be less exhausted but without steady income.)

If you’re a teacher feeling conflicted about your career, thinking about potentially leaving teaching…

You’re between a rock and a hard place.

I see you.

Here's what you might not know

THERE’S MORE OPTIONS THAN JUST STAY / GO
Stress makes us feel like there’s only 2 choices but actually there are at least 5 pathways from where you are right now (and potentially many more).

YOU CAN LOVE TEACHING AGAIN
If you’re not sure you actually want to leave, know that it IS actually possible to rediscover joy and meaning in the job you once loved.

YOU HAVE MANY SKILLS THAT ARE TRANSFERRABLE
Teachers are so bloody capable, and mostly have no idea how many skills they have that other industries absolutely need and value.

WHEREVER
YOU GO, THERE YOU ARE
Whether you stay in education or leave the industry entirely, you take your personal patterns, beliefs and behaviours with you.

The very annoying truth is that there is no quick fix solution here, and nobody can tell you what you should do.

Leaving teaching will not magically fix your life or your wellbeing. Staying in teaching will not guarantee strong finances or career fulfillment.

But you're unhappy and exhausted. You're daydreaming about doing something, anything else.

So what the heck do you do next?

You pause.

You take a deep breath.

And give yourself the time and space to actually explore your options.

Teachers don’t usually give themselves that gift.

Instead, they often bury their head in the sand, suppress the increasingly frequent thoughts of leaving and “soldier on”... until they can’t anymore.

Then they either quit unexpectedly and reactively - without a plan - burning bridges in the process.

Or they fully burn out and are actually unable to work at all, in any job, for a long time.

I don't want that for you.
I want to help you be proactive so that you can protect your health, your finances and your reputation.

Most teachers who are thinking about leaving are doing so in secret, feeling guilty, ashamed & incredibly stressed about it.

What you actually need is permission to have these thoughts about leaving and explore your options privately, while also receiving unbiased support and guidance.

I invite you to engage with yourself, explore the alternative pathways (including staying or going), and uncover what you actually want.

I invite you to make a plan to stay or to go (or something in between) that doesn’t leave you worse off than where you are now.

I invite you to do all of this BEFORE you leave so that IF you do go (temporarily or permanently), you can feel confident of your decision, secure in the process and free from regrets about what ‘might've been’.
