Hey, Podcaster! Are you:

Pouring your heart and soul into podcasting but struggling to make it profitable?

Tired of your passion project draining instead of filling your bank account

Wanting to outsource the time-consuming parts of your show but need a way to fund the costs of production?

I've been there!

Listening to podcasts is free, but creating them comes at a cost.

(Even if that cost is "just" your time and energy.)

Podcasting is rewarding in so many ways, but it needs to be sustainable for you.

Let's find the right approach to make your podcast another stream of income for you

G'day I'm Ellen Ronalds Keene

I'm a music teacher and podcast lover turned podcaster and podcast producer.

In 2017 I started my first independent podcast, Teacher Wellbeing. I had a real calling to share my message and build my audience but I was DIYing everything.

It quickly started burning me out and I couldn’t afford to outsource anything.

I had to make it work.

So I started researching monetisation strategies and then I started trying them with my audience.

Spoiler alert: many of them didn’t work for me!

(Meanwhile, I also accidentally started a podcast production agency: PERK Digital.)

Over the last 7 years I figured out the right approach for my podcast audience (because there’s no one-size-fits-all).

I was able to outsource the editing and management of my show, which was a huge initial help. But I didn't stop there.

Over time my podcast became another stream of income for me, too.

In my podcast agency, I've also worked with dozens of small and independent podcasters as they tested monetisation strategies and figured out what works for their shows.

Most of these were people with a small or no team, limited budgets, and a range of other factors outside their role as podcaster that also need their time, energy and resources: parenting and/or caring responsibilities, neurodivergence and/or chronic illness, and one or more marginalised identities.

If you've ever been personally victimised by healthism and hustle culture in the online business world, you're in the right place.

If you want to know what monetisation options are the best to focus on with a small audience, you're in the right place.

If you're tired of podcasting advice that tells you to 'go home' because you can't 'go hard enough', then you're in the right place.

Podcasting can be profitable,

even with a small audience

From sponsorships to crowdfunding, affiliate marketing and live events to selling your own products and services, there is at least one monetisation approach for every podcast

There's no 'one-size-fits-all' but there IS something that can work for you.

In this training I’m going to share:

  •  what worked for me, what didn’t, and why
  •  an overview* of the main podcast monetisation strategies
  •  what approaches work best depending on the size of your audience
  •  my 5-step framework so you can choose your own podcast monetisation adventure
  •  how to decide which might be a good fit based on your energy and resources
  •  plus, some examples from my clients and different approaches they've taken to podcast monetisation, too.

By the end of this training you will have a roadmap to follow to begin or extend your journey to get your podcast to pay off.

I'm sharing an overview of the different kinds of monetisation approaches and what kind of podcasts they can work well for, plus some case studies and insider tips. There will be some action plans added to the course platform for each approach but depending on which one you choose, it may not be the only resource you need. I will also be running some further trainings later in the year on the 'how to' of some of these approaches, and I will definitely point you in the right direction for getting more information about each monetisation approach.

The training itself will take around 90 minutes. Monetising a podcast can take months or even years, but if you already have an engaged audience then this training will help you monetise sooner.
  • What if I can’t join live?
You’ll receive the video recording and slides after the training (uploaded within 24 hours), so you can watch it whenever you want. Plus, you’ll have the chance to submit any specific questions in advance, so I can cover them during the Q&A part of the training.
  • When will you offer this training again?
I’ll offer the recording of the training, but the special launch price of $US97 will be gone. After 26th October, Adventures in Podcast Monetisation will be sold for US$297 and you won’t get the opportunity to join live or submit questions in advance.
  • How long do I have access to this training?
For as long as I offer this training, you will be able to refer back to it. If at any time I decide to no longer offer it, you will be given notice and a way to keep all materials.
  • Will there be accommodations made in this training?
A transcript of the training will be provided with the recording and the slides will be kept very plain for visually impaired software to follow along easily. Once the videos are chopped up into modules in the course platform I will be adding captions (please allow a couple of weeks for this after the training). There will also definitely be a private podcast version of the training once it's chopped up into modules. I’m working on a live captioning option for future presentations. Anything else, let me know!
  • Are there refunds?
Under Australia Consumer Law, I am not required to provide a refund or replacement if you change your mind. As this is a digital product, please consider carefully if this is right for you before you purchase. But you can choose a refund or exchange the product has a major problem. This is when the product: • has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying the item if they had known about it • is unsafe • is significantly different from the sample or description • doesn’t do what we said it would, and can’t be easily fixed.
  • You’re Australian. Why do you charge in USD?
I run an online business with clients and students from all around the world. USD is the standard currency in online business.
  • I’ve got another question
Great! Send me an email to hello [at] perkdigital.com.au and let’s chat!
