I’ve been on my own journey of illness and burnout, and I know how powerful radical self-care can be in reclaiming health, happiness and resilience both in the classroom and in life.
Cultivating teacher wellbeing and preventing teacher burnout is complex.
There are no quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions (despite what IG influencers may say!) I believe wholeheartedly in teachers taking their power back, implementing sustainable, realistic habits and practices that support their wellbeing, and challenging the culture of self-neglect, self-sacrifice and martyrdom that exists in our profession and our society.
All of my coaching and resources centres around this approach.
I acknowledge that they won't address the external factors that impact your wellbeing, like the unreasonable workload the education system demands, the toxic person who makes your school an unhappy place, or the stress of a global pandemic.
What radical self-care will do is keep you from becoming even more depleted than you already are, which in turns gives you just a little more energy, patience and resilience to deal with those challenges.
